Cleaner Air Ahead: Enhancing Air Quality and Engaging the Community
At MSD Project Clear, our commitment to the environment extends beyond clean water. One of the more exciting and impactful endeavors we’re taking on will profoundly improve air quality in our region.
For over 50 years, we have been disposing of biosolids, a byproduct of the wastewater treatment process, through incineration. While our current facilities meet regulatory requirements, it's time to upgrade our century-old technology to more efficient and environmentally friendly processes. The result? A remarkable 70% reduction in emissions.
During the decision-making process, we carefully considered our environmental mission and our responsibility to our customers and region. We knew that our plans might raise questions, and a few local politicians did voice concerns through the media. Despite some inaccuracies and misunderstandings in their press releases, we were prepared.
At MSD Project Clear, we had already been proactive in communicating about the project. Additionally, we had a reactive communication plan in place. We swiftly corrected any misinformation and successfully pitched stories focusing on the need for these improvements. As a result, we achieved 80% positive or neutral media coverage for this project.
